I'm hoping people here will know if we can expect any major layoff rounds any time soon? I got a job offer from a friend and I can start any time in the next few months. I'm considering leaving right away since I haven't been happy here for a long time but if there's going to be a major round, I might wait to see if I can grab a severance package on my way out. Thanks in advance for the answers!

Unless your guy or a minority or a female you are subject to being terminated. No such thing as a layoff. White males first out the door.
See if you end up on PIP and take PIL.
If not call HR and ask for it

It’s sounds like you’re ready to leave for whatever reason other than the obvious so, just leave. I didn’t take the voluntary package in November because I needed to stick it out a few more years and besides I truly enjoyed my job. Well, I ended up black and blue because I didn’t take the package and all my “real” work responsibilities stripped away. I was given tasks that didn’t make sense then constantly asked to provide a list of things that I was working. ExxonMobil management, if you really wanted ALL retirement eligible employees out the door then you should have handled it differently. I ended up leaving on my own terms and it feels great. No one, not even a large Company can keep a bright bird caged. Get out while you can and leave with dignity…something ExxonMobil knows NOTHING about!!!
