I’m highly ranked but actively looking to get off this sinking ship (let’s be honest - who isn’t?) and I had a job interview after work today today with another company in Houston. I was really excited about the opportunity. When I joined my Zoom interview, I immediately recognized one of the three managers interviewing me - it was my current supervisor’s spouse. I’ve met them previously at happy hours and holiday parties, but I didn’t realize they worked for this other company. I’m 99% sure they recognized me, and even if they didn’t, my resume makes it very obvious that I work for their spouse’s team. Neither of us said anything about it during the interview.
I’m so scr***d. Spouses wouldn’t keep something like this secret from each other, right? The manager who interviewed me HAS to have tattled on me by now. I don’t know how I’m going to face my boss tomorrow. Ugh.
Advice, sympathy...I’ll take it all.
