Can Ford benefit from another employee separation plan such as PRP, VIP, SRD, or involuntary separations? The company has hired thousands of people to cover new initiatives, and one has to think payroll takes a toll. The rumor mill has been quiet on this topic. Any rumors out there?

As the job market gets better there will be attrition. Certain groups are already seeing engineers of all ages leave for better positions. Without the old benefit packages we had at one time no incentive or loyalty do these kids feel today. Also I do remember that VP in 2018 stating PD will reduce heads by 25% in the next three years. I think this SRD will go out for another 3-4 years .
With the EV push - so many engineers in PD, VO, UAW will not be needed due to the simpler design of EVS. Easier to engineer, and the plant impact will be huge.
All you gas engine guys and supporting parts - better brush up on your electrical knowledge. You are soon to be obsolete.
I bet you could reduce headcount by 35% and not miss a beat (this is true even today - LOL).
Engineers are leaving at an alarming rate.
A former VP in November of 2018 all hands with the hr rep on stage. He clearly stated Ford would reduce PD headcount worldwide by 25%. The worst is yet to come. There are no more big ICE or Trans programs. So what do you do with all those people?
I don't know of any rumors however I think Ford will offer one next year. As we rapidly move towards more Hybrid and BEV's there is a greater need software developers, not necessarily engineers. Unfortunately, the skill sets are not easily transferable. Given there is an abundance of engineers across the company, I think this group will be a prime target for reductions.
