Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Vibe here improving.... A little

Been lurking this board regularly since the PIP-off last year.

I honestly don't really know why, because the content has been mostly sh**posts, rants, trolling, and a lot of weird flexes by presumably insecure middle-aged dudes with "30+ years at Exxon" who inevitably go on to talk up their "Accomplishments" and then bash entitled millennials.... Or whatever.

But lately... Some posts here have been arguably informative, or at the very least people have been a little supportive of each other.

And I don't mean positive - there's no point in being positive about the state of EM under it's present management. But it's nice to see just a little less toxicity here of late.

Wait until feedback starts and people find they ranked in ranking or were PIPd.

Oh hi, I stopped by tonight to see what's going on here. The reality is that most if not all of us are back in the office and no time to come back here and slack. I came back here tonight because of all the buzz at the campus with so many people leaving etc etc. I mean, what's going on!

An accusation implies that that it may not be true. It's a pure fact that older employees at this company are lazy, worthless, and just around to collect paychecks.

Well, there are certainly people reading these posts.
Some have a couple thousand reads the next day.
And it is quite possible some of these reads are people looking for some layoff insight.

There are also posters and sub-posters (responders).
Generally a very low number compared to the reads.
Stats lie all the time but about 1/500th of readers are responders.
Occasionally a responder will not have been a reader at all, but is just responding.

On the other hand, squeaky wheels get grease.
And it is something to do.

Judged by the downvotes the OP is getting, the OP is probably part of the problem that the OP is referring to.

Wtf? +30 is middle age? Where did you go to kindergarten? College degree == +20
And +30 work is not middle aged, but crusty grouchy stuck in the mud old.

I’ve also seen a bunch of likely younger people insulting older people and accusing them of being useless, etc. Either way, it was indeed very discouraging, and even allowing for a number of outside trolls, it just shows the true quality of a lot of the people ExxonMobil chooses to employ. Arrogance, rudeness and agressive behavior are highly valued in this company, supposedly as a sign of leadership. Not surprising we got where we are.
