Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Nothing is right in this company anymore

I have to think hard to come up with something that's still good about COP. I just wonder how long this situation will last and whether it will start to improve, that is, does the management know what it is doing at all? Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who is very optimistic.....

Instead of collaboration, etc COP has an employee rating system which pits people against people, creating a very negative competitive environment.

The wheels have come off! There is a lack of leadership from top to bottom. Promotions aren’t earned anymore. Spirit values are just words on the wall which management doesn’t follow and employees no longer believe. The talent management teams are only there for their friends and family. I have lost all respect for low level supervisors as they are only in it for themselves and their next promotion.

We were good in research. We were integrated and diversified which provided stability in sector downturns. We promoted and rewarded based on merit and performance. We respected our leaders and they actually respected us. We were a family.

Smart growth? How so?
Superior returns? Not on the dividend and stock price.
SPIRIT values? Not even sure where to begin with that.
BUT...the coffee shop in Spirit 1 makes it all worthwhile. That’s where the magic happens. Just look at all the “meetings” that happen all day everyday right there! Makes me proud to be at COP.

I’m not sure what’s good either, but COP is the self proclaimed E&P company of choice. It must be because of the Smart Growth, Superior Returns, and SPIRIT values...or something like that.

What was good before that is not good now? What are some specific examples?
