Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

To the powers that be

You need to set aside ego and begin acknowledging the high global attrition, the oversubscribed voluntary programs and the clear messages coming from below of a demoralized dejected workforce. You need to set aside the glossy powerpoints on why this is such a great place to work and restore the 401k, promotions, and pay raises. You need to pick a few things you’re going to focus on in your jobs and then empower the people under you to run their business without having to stop every other day to answer meaningless questions from above. You need to adjust the assessment method by combining the middle 3 into one larger category and make the 5th to be available only as needed. You need to provide some free company merchandise to employees to rebuild their sense of belonging to the brand. You need to provide a voluntary program to get rid of all the negative folks counting down their days and offset by restarting campus and experienced hiring to bring back some energy and enthusiasm. You need to be authentic and honest with us as if your family worked for the company and tell us where you want to lead so that we can all stay focused on the right priorities and intiatives to find our way back to the respected company we joined. There is only so much the rest of us can do - you need to hit reset, throw away your talking points, accept the humility of unwinding previous directives, and use this moment in time as an opportunity. Don’t squander it.

Get yourself a BP and be their pet. That’s how I got my raise and promotion this year. Pretty good size one too.

The final straw to destroying this company was: 1) moving into the Crystal Palace; 2) moving Upstreamers into Downstream and vice versa; 3) Woods stocking the upper echelon VPs with all his yes men cronies from Europe; and 4) endless reorganizations supposedly supporting the insidously ridiculous Value Added Chain followed by the Lean Into Strategies to its knees. Then of course Woods and company threw in the towel, hired a consultant, and now we are working the Woods and his clowns Net Worth Strategy.
Woods net worth will be $100 million by YE21. They do not give a damn about you, me, our families or this company. Our Executives, VPs and above whose RSUs are equal to their annual salaries only about power and money, it is that simple.

I think management was ignoring everything but that this is the post that will change their minds. They have officially been called to action.

"Don't feed the board psychedelic" is just fantastic. I will add it as my Outlook signature

Everyone is busy these days planning an outlet. Its incredible what we are becoming, and the lack of authentic (someone that doesn't need training to be leader) leadership. The performance system is ruining this company. Workers quit and campus students that know understand the truth will eventually 'catch up here'. HR is too much of a failure to standup and suggest there performance system is an utter failure. Shame on you HR leaders.

You have written that very well. Thanks for that reflection. The truth within was articulated clearly.

Ego and ExxonMobil go hand in hand. You'd be better off feeding the entire board psychedelics than convincing them that there is a problem.

The beatings will continue until the share price takes a hit, otherwise, that's the only number they care about.
