Things were already bad when I was laid off about three years ago and with everything that's happened since then (most of all the pandemic) I can't even imagine how bad it is now. Is there any chance that I'm wrong and things have actually improved? I certainly hope so for the sake of my former colleagues.

Blame the board of the company - chaired by Luczo who is still figuring ways to milk the cashcow...
The stock price is way higher. Bonuses are way lower. The rich getting way richer and everyone else on the road to serfdom. So, same.
Still same, good and bad. How about you, way better and progressing well?
I'm still here and still miserable. Nothing has changed. Consider yourself lucky.
