Thread regarding Refinitiv layoffs

Another Day, Another Major Refinitiv Outage

Hope Refinitiv came with a money-back guarantee cuz LSEG were sold a lemon. One whose juice was wrung out long ago by the constant layoffs of good, knowledgeable people. And it's only going to get worse. How many major outages has it been now on TCS's watch?

What a brillant usecase of desastrous management...
Please add it up into the "Things You Don't Want to do When Managing a Company" chapter!

String, bubble gum, and plenty of duct tape holding these systems together. Nothing ever done the right way, always the cheap way. Reaction is their philosophy. Each day brings a new emergency with no job satisfaction.

More than reputation. They need to pray, I dont know to what god to keep their customers...
Actions going down reputation on the mud ... it is a good combo for a catastrophe.

None of this should come as a surprise. It came to pass exactly as predicted two years ago. Keep sacking people with years of experience developing, managing and operating the platform and replacing them with outsourced contractors with only a couple weeks' knowledge, and it's a guaranteed recipe for disaster. ELT thought they'd be OK risking a bit of stability to save a couple hundred million dollars to push the LSEG deal through. Now what they're really needing to save... is their reputation.

"For thousands of traders, fund managers and analysts, the message that Eikon is down has in recent months become a wearily familiar one."

What a mess! Not even two weeks later and yet ANOTHER major SSO outage across the entire Refinitiv and Eikon product line! A BIG one. Guaranteed heads will roll.

The outage was during the week not at the week-end. Again a bunch of complains ... every two months you have one. If the customers are still around and not cancel subscriptions. Everything should be ok ... for how long ? Maybe forever and we are all good 😉

Guess it was single sign on again.
It’s great only having one sign on that spans any products you subscribe to , but it’s a single point of failure. Unless managed well via redundancies and strict change controls then it’s all the eggs in one basket , the basket that seems to be dropped on occasion.

That last outage happened over the weekend so there wasn't much impact. Otherwise it would have made the news again. Eikon, Eikon Messenger, FXT and some Risk stuff affected from what I heard.
