If you are in one of the big stores and you're doing badly and can barely make payroll, you'll be one of the stores closing soon. If you're only doing just okay and the company thinks it's worth it, then it looks like you'll be downsizing and that includes your staff. Whatever was wrong with Dalton, huh?
The cafes tend to be much more of a headache now and look for many of them to disappear or be sold.

If Amazon says your order will be there, it will be. And for any reason it doesn’t, they’ll promptly refund your shipping fee ! THAT is how you run a business and treat customers.
Our cafes aren't even doing a fraction of the business they were way before Covid. If I was running B&N I would downsize everything (like the old newstand/airport-sized stores) and dump the cafes, especially in the malls which are also quickly dying. Focus on new and best sellers and the things that are repeat sellers.
Let's face it, people are always on their cells, even the people traveling and still reading books.

Starbucks has been successful during the pandemic shutdowns. Why would they want to remain in stores that were shut down and now that they’re reopened , are no longer doing the business they once did?
