Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I always thought I’d retire here

I’m leaving EM after 21 years at the company. I got a job at another company in the industry. The pay and benefits are more or less the same so I wasn’t motivated by money, but just needed to leave this place.
I’m not happy to say this nor am I talking from the position of someone who has something against EM, but let's be realistic. This place has hit rock bottom and looks less and less like the company it used to be by the day. Whoever doesn’t want to waste their career should seriously think about leaving. Best of luck to my remaining colleagues.

Soon the company will be a hollow shell of people like this person. The company will fail because we only retain id--ts.

Congratulations on the change. This company just cannot empathize with understanding the workforce. You did the right thing....

A lot of my EMRE colleagues are dependent on EM pay. From their career, the pay is quite higher than most of the market. Our Union doesn't see that and they demand more. Some express they want to leave, but having a family makes it difficult to relocate or change industries.

I hope they have a plan B if Exxon moves us to Houston or PIP'd
