Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Feeling squeezed to the max?

I don’t want to be one of those employees waiting to be squeezed to the max, to reach a breaking point and only then do something to look for a new job.
When I describe to people what it is like to work here, usually my first association is that no one really works here (because work means that you are respected for that work), but instead it is a mass squeezing of people to satisfy the greed of those at the top.

The person was talking about a regional huddle. Not a personal one-on-one call with HR.

I have never scheduled a call and secretly invited HR and have the call be good for the employee. Those calls are ALWAYS, "Today is your final day working for (insert POS company name here. we can call it follett) I have Ms Potts from HR on the line with us. She'll be very helpful to you. The only thing you need to know is the company decided to go in another direction. Thank you. "

HR is there to protect the company NOT the employee.

I'm going to side with the last post because I was -part- of the hysterics. But I would say this as a reminder; HR is not your friend. They will roll you the first chance they get and not lose any sleep over it. A business that isn't profitable isn't a business for long, and someone needs to pay off the tabs in the Chicago area.

The "omg call with HR we're all getting fired!!" was a theme here a few weeks or months ago also. We've already had that call. It's almost certainly just them going over the HR team restructuring that happened. There are a lot of regions. It takes a while to get on RM huddles for every region. It's likely just that, before people start panicking again.

When HR has to be on the call it's ALWAYS bad.

Well, at the risk of outing myself, we had our regional conference call rescheduled next week so that we could have a member of HR on. I hate feeling paranoid because I don't want to be, but timing is everything.

What is the regional meetings with HR about? Haven’t heard of this?

100% agreed on the zero payroll. They'll think it's the greatest thing ever since the disparity between the fools on the hill and the field can grow even more. Scheduling regional meetings with your HR reps after the great Follett Bake-off this week does not inspire confidence.

Last year they saw what could be accomplished with zero payroll. They will use that information to staff this year.

Indeed. And it's only going to get worse as more directives are piled on over the summer and payroll isn't increased to make up for it.
