Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

How much longer could a raise keep you here?

I started looking for a new job because I feel very underpaid in relation to the amount of work I do.
For a while, I thought that I would somehow be able to bear the fact that I was paid a little, if only they would reduce the amount of work I had to do. At this point, however, I would not want to stay here even if I was to get a raise for a much smaller amount of work.

I left DXC about 2 months ago after securing a position with a 30% increase in pay. Everyone has a different number that will motivate them to do certain things. Knowledge doubles every 2 to 3 years. So does technology. Don't get complacent. If you're not moving forward in knowledge with respects IT, you're going to get left behind and eventually laid off with nobody looking to hire you. If you're in IT, get into the Security side of house. You'll be able to eat forever!

There is more money out there. I got a WFR last year, I was a 18 year employee starting back with EDS. I had a job within 45 days of the WFR. that job was a 20% pay raise doing the same job that I was doing at DXC. I also like other had not had a raise in 4 years. So make the move. .

For me 2 years till retirement at age 68. Now I don't do anything, I ask for work but with WBS's for multiple leaders no one really knows if I am working or not. I charge my hours as I sit at my desk every day waiting to be assigned to something

Apparently there is a pay reviewing July to see in august. If that results in a significant raise then the answer is a year. If not then outta here after milking the summer.

If money is the only reason to leave then a matched offer to stay is fine.

In my career experience, the thought of the lack of money is usually triggered by other things though...no obvious career progression, bad management, bad working conditions...

And I'm not talking just about dxc. By the time you are thinking about the money, you've already decided you've had enough and are ready to take your chances elsewhere.

On that basis, taking a matched offer to stay isn't the answer.

re: previous response - you did the right thing. Messing companies around by applying for jobs getting offers, even accepting them, then rejecting them to stay where you are only ends up damaging your own reputation and your "brand" in the industry. You were not happy with DXC, which is why you started looking, and even if you got the raise you'll still be likely unhappy and looking again in the future but with at least one potential future employer not being interested in hiring you again

I handed my notice in after securing another job. DXC offered to match my offer which I declined. I think I made the right decision , time will tell I suppose.
