Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Is there any logic when it comes to cuts?

So far I haven’t noticed that it matters whether someone is a high performer, very engaged or very professional in their job. It doesn't seem to matter at all to TR. So far I know that a lot of great people have been laid off while some of the biggest slackers have survived.

Your best chance at surviving is to kiss the appropriate a-s. Talent, hard work etc do not matter. Fortunately there are other ( better) companies out there who will appreciate people. Don’t let TR treating you like cr-p define you.

The only logic is the magic spreadsheet. Merit isn't one of the columns.

In the exec level, it’s b/c they want to change directions which is done every 15 months. There is certainly no rhyme or reason in the technical or editorial roles. In the large cuts they just maintain an ethnic and age balance to fend off lawsuits.
