Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Your thoughts and Process Technology Department (PTD)

What is the general consensus on the Process Technology Department (PTD)? I feel its in a weird place in EMRE, that is between CSR and more business oriented functions.

No worries, most people in Houston seem to think everyone in CLN work in CSR.

Don’t forget Baytown wannabe BTEC. What a waste of air space that entire site has become in the last few years. All of the talented people moved on when they saw the writing on the wall. The only ones left are the ones who weren’t invited to the spring campus or just because they can’t find anything better. Everyone there is miserable and just existing to get through the days. No human life, robots and lab rats only. So glad I only had to visit a few times. It was depressing.

Only change I would make would be to move PPLE to the top of the layoff list, useless.

PTD is past its expiration date, PTD and the pilot units , Annandale can not survive in the current state, something major has to happen. Dead man walking,Two years max, will be outsourced or Texas bound, No major catalyst improvements have been developed for some time, and the cost benefit for the corporation is just not there. If you knew what it cost to build and maintain these lab units , pilot units you wouldn’t believe it. It cost a fortune to keep Annandale functioning, , Dr. Syrup can’t save it now the scam is up he’s looking for his own exit strategy. . Mr. Talley where are you! The employees are miserable and morale is lowest it’s ever been. Ask the employees from Paulsboro how they like Annandale, and the lies they were told. It’s not just PTD, it’s CSR, NJRSC what a waste of money, BUT they all got promoted, and filled the halls in PPLE, PPLE deserves its own thread. Maybe ranking will get some of them! No leaders total failure during COVID, . Now zero tolerance for contractors with masks, or your fired, boy, the double standard is still alive in Annandale, especially with life saving rules. See you on the walking path, YL picnic this year. Darrin help us!

The general concensus, as I understand it (along with my partner), is that Process Technology Department exists in the Research and Engineering entity in the Corporation.

The concept of the weird place is long-standing Corporate philosophy that research can contribute to improvement to technological processes involving production of materials economically that can be sold by the Corporation to customers with potential monetary value above the capital and resources involved.

At one time - this 'Research' process, coupled with 'Engineering' processes, was considered the 'Life-Blood' of the company. As late as year 2010, this was the idea.

The general concensus now - by most Corporation employees and investors is that the Corporation has given up on this concept of the 'Life-Blood'.

It has given up the weird ghost of PTD.
