Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Why couldn’t they provide better health insurance?

If you're going to complain about a benefit that has gotten worse over time, the health insurance is the worst I've ever had. I can't believe they couldn't work out a better plan given the size of the company.

Exactly! Is there anyone who can explain why Allstate couldn’t have given us a better plan? I know great people who have gone from here to other companies mostly for this reason.

Miss me with that union talk...

Sure insurance would probably be marginally better, but then I'd be paying dues to a useless middle man layer of bureaucracy that wouldn't have the power to fix any of the real problems workers face at allstate...

If you want to join a union so badly, nothing is stopping you from going to work a trade, or for the government, police or fire departments.

The high deductible plans are self insured - premiums are paid to Allstate and claims are paid by Allstate. When the insurance plan is too difficult or too expensive to use, guess who keeps the profits?

Too bad Allstaters don’t want a Union. You could negotiate much better health insurance. You have no support at Allstate for better health rates. Even caregivers who work for the state that make 20 an hour have better health insurance offering than this huge fortune 100 company. It’s like having no health insurance unless you are super sick

My doctor visit went from $83 last year to $130 this year. Yes more goes towards my deductible but who can afford $130 for one appointment!
