Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Promotions need to go to deserving people

It's really disheartening to see that the company continues to promote bad people despite ample evidence that such nepotism-based promotions are ruining Xerox. People who have no idea how to do their jobs and what we do in the first place are supposed to manage us? And that's somehow supposed to work? Ridiculous.

No promotion, no cost of living adjustment, nada. No matter how well you perform for multiple years, nada. Only way to really get more $$ is to apply for a different position within X or leave altogether...... they reward good employees by giving them the pleasure of a check at the exact same amount so its easy to plan... :-P

Job performance counts for nothing in this company. Expectation is to take on more and more work and just be happy you have a job.

I’m sure it varies by role wildly but my corner’s issue is absolutely money. I’ve told direct and higher management where I want to move. I feel I’ve earned that spot. I’m sure there’s competition, but they aren’t filling those roles - if the position opens it gets spread amongst existing managers so they don’t have to bump anyone a grade.

It’s a shame. I trust that if my immediate and first skip management could promote me (or other colleagues) they would, but from the actions I’ve seen it’s clear they’re scrambling not to blow any budget moving someone up higher. There’s plenty of talent hunting and no obvious nepotism or favoritism (in this case) because no one gets the tap.

I’m not saying the rest of you haven’t experienced nepotism or favoritism - I totally believe it, but even in areas devoid of that it still seems like an absolute concrete wall to advance meaningfully.

You still have a chance at promotions? Our site was told there would never be any promotions for anyone ever again.

get woke, go broke. X hasn't promoted the best person for the job in decades and you're seeing the result.

What promotions, nowadays? Other than the piling on of tasks from those who were let go?
