Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

They just solved my dilemmas

The last layoffs solved the dilemmas that I had for a long time and that is whether to look for another opportunity or to stay here a little longer?

I’m sure many more people decided to leave voluntarily after seeing how they cut some of the best employees?

There are fewer and fewer people who are willing to put effort into a company in which those efforts mean nothing.

I am currently working for Simple Healthcare LTC- which under Anthem. Do you know of any layoffs or why people are leaving?

In normal circumstances, I’d agree with you completely.

However, when you are short 6 people (from 30) due to layoffs and offshoring can’t access the system due to lack of de-identification and Medicaid rules, the team has to pull up their sleeves.

He just helped so we didn’t have to work every weekend.

So from an external point of view, I would imagine that the things you mentioned (audits, budget, and de-identification) are things more senior folks would be doing, not the Director of a large company. I'm no fan of Anthem by any means, but it seems more like your boss was keeping you from reaching actual career goals that would be valuable to you. Without exposure to items like that would actually be a win for my resume. Seems like your boss did what my old boss at Anthem did all the time; hoard the work that would help me grow.

And it continues. I was RIFd in the March cuts. Sad.

They just canned one of the best GBD Directors I’ve ever worked with. He coached me towards reaching my goals, spoke up when the team needed support and worked so hard to ensure we can concentrate on our work - rather than audits, budget or de-identification. There were 2 other options but I have a feeling they were friends with the SVP. What a shame.
