Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

New Positions

Can someone explain what the difference is between an “expert” and a “senior” bookseller? And why a number of actual senior booksellers at my store weren’t chosen for either of these roles? Is this yet another play by BN to force out the actual talent that built this company in exchange for YA reading part time trash? It’s so incredibly frustrating to come into a place every day for almost two decades and watch its steady destruction by middle management.

they are just alternate words for department managers. Where as one is trained to open and close the store and the other assumes that ones place. lord knows the management teams have to have a back up so they can call in sick and take their vacations. got to have 3 extra key holders in addition to the 5 on the actual management staff.

Company don’t care about anyone, they offer people full time than bully them it’s a sick place. The middle managers hog up the pay roll than when things get tight the store manager turns everyone on each other disgusting cut throat nonsense

The expert bookseller is friends with the assistant store manager while the expert bookseller is friends with the store manager.
