Heard this week in a leadership meeting that storage isn’t being produced and legacy HDS is being sold off. How could this be accurate? What, we’d just tell all our clients “sorry yall but we done care no more?”. Just doesn’t make sense.

This sounds true to me. Hitachi has abandoned product lines abruptly in the past (eg. Mainframes) to change course. Storage is a commodity and the profit margins are thin as compared to cloud services. There is no secret to what GK’s intentions are. Trust me.
Not true! I was in the management meeting too. HPK, wake up! You obviously were not paying attention!
The message was to focus to get the type of Storage business segment profitable again. To do so, one must expand and capture market share. This means some not so profitable biz will be let go.
