Watch wild-eyed $cientologi$+ RD blow smoke up his own ar$e about a sculpting a posable robot figure, as though he's just split the atom. It's nothing but a simple collector doll with zero features. For $100! Was anyone clamoring for this? Did anyone ask for it? Is this going to put us back on top, RD? Gonna save jobs with Instagram likes and media impressions? Why does Mattel work with Bad Robot? They don’t have anything. Is Jay j going to direct one of the Mattel movies?

Damn dude. You took all the words out of my mouth. I saw the announcement and chuckled. This is it? I didn’t know it costs $100!!! That’s asinine.

First, we have to nurture that relationship with JJ. Then after years of building trust and making many successful toys, we outsmart and end-run around him with our proprietary new doll line "StarT Trek High"! C-Down will see to it!

It’s just a way to kiss up to JJ and get to the top of his licensing list, and make a few bucks on the side. Or as RD should say “it’s for the relationship”
I remember making special gifts for Pix@rs John Lassy, see how much that helped.

This weekend's SDCC (San Diego Comic Con) is virtual for the second year. I can see those Cosplay types at home (in costume of course) on their phones & laptops, buying these for $100. Many of them have an annual budget for CCon stuff, so without any travel expenses they are ready to buy even more stuff. So overall, not a bad plan for the company, but they really are overhyping this thing in that video. We have a talented, passionate team, and the same work, decisions and pain go into every action figure we do, not just this one. At a minimum, it's nice that the designers and sculptors get some well-deserved recognition and screen time.

Have to agree. My jaw hit the floor when I saw that video on Instagram. Typical RD PR, targeted for Comic-Con weekend. "Origin story"... who cares? It's a doll that no one asked for. Very likely that a low number were produced (limited edition!) so that after all 50 of them are sold, the C-suiters will pat themselves on the back and write themselves another bonus check.

Cringeworthy indeed. Good points all, Tricky D1cky hasn't had a single win in his 7 years at the helm. How much "profit" did Hot Wheels ID make? How did Never After High do, compared to the entire Disney Princess license it cost us? Hello Barbie? Aristotle? Thingmaker? What else?
