Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

Townhall disaster

It was not an upbeat townhall but at least they were transparent (somewhat) about the situation.

End to end visibility? Security? Shoot me now. No way in He-l Riverbed can compete in that space.

Aternity adds no value.

Please give me a generous severance package.

The Aternity exec team hired by DM was horrible, especially the CRO and his HR issues. Not sad to see BH got canned. Karma.

The new interest in trying to market security again is interesting but sad. We were a pioneer in what is now called the NDR space with Mazu (but now not even a mention by Gartner in recent market scope - marketing likely doesn't even realize the space exists since they have been out of it so long and are so out of touch with reality). A feeble attempt is made every few years to reengage security then no real investments are made and interest wanes. Imagine if the Mazu security features where continued to be developed then the Aternity agent could have added an EDR focus. Instead upper management would rather continue to chase dying markets like Acceleration and NPM.
So many missed opportunities its starting to be embarassing as an employee.

Have they been clear on if there is going to be one company again? Now that all the systems have been split (support, licensing, CRM, accounting, payroll...). Who is getting fired for this massive misstep?

Selling Aternity before they split off sucked. Selling Aternity after they split off sucked. What makes people think spinning back in and selling Aternity isn’t going to suck?!!!!

Too many low sloping forehead leaders.
