Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Is it really necessary to be so bureaucratic?

After four years here, I can say that formalities are one of my most hated things at Anthem. I completely agree with the one who said that bureaucracy is the art of making the possible impossible. I love order, but the bureaucracy in Anthem is really too much. I have worked in other companies that also had a rigid system, but not nearly as is the case here.

if it wasn’t then you could not justify a lot of the management roles. It’s kept this way because that’s the skill necessary to be successful in this culture. Bureaucracy won’t end until it’s not profitable.

That was one of my biggest pet peeves when I worked there. Impossible to get things done in a timely manner because you always had waiting for other people to do tasks that you when knew how to do (but doing them was someone else’s “role”).
