It’s a legitimate question. It’s apparent that it’s not for any promise of raises, our healthcare benefits are subpar and let’s face it, there are many of us who are underpaid and constantly overworked. So the question that begs answering is - why do you stay?

Some of the older Medicaid account folks have been doing the same job for many decades. They've gone beyond the point of having career mobility.
Most of my coworkers would not be able to find a real job. They are extremely lazy and lack basic skills. Anyone who has any pride would not be at this place.
When you reach a certain age - finding another job is next to impossible.
Just remember grass is not always greener on the other side.
After a certain age it's not worth starting over somewhere else. And interviews can be daunting, especially if you last did one 20+ years ago.
You stay bc of not knowing if your new job will be even worse.
