Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

When are things bad?

When it lays off irreplaceable know-how, and hires instead 4 H1B's that can't debug their own code

When kiss-up, kick-down is the standard for promotions

When management fills up their calendar with nonsense stuff to appear "on a meeting" on Skype

When people are getting fired and hired back as contractors

When customers don't want to talk to managers, but insist to get direct contact to engineers

When each failure is sold as a victory

When product are cancelled, then brought back to life,, then cancelled again.

When the manager insists to be on CC when you talk with the guy next door

When your project is cancelled and then you're asked why it's not ready.

When your peers ask you if you have some connections outside to help them jump ships.

When they are paying you to do nothing

When the managers fly around the globe to spread the same 10 BS sentences and collect bonus miles.

When you're afraid to ask what is the direction to follow.

When 10 engineers in a room are not willing to aknowledge any mistake, but nothing works.

When technical decisions are made by managers being afraid to lose control

When great technical people are becoming miserable managers

When all products are obsolete when they reach the market

When said company buys back stock with bond money

When a SR PEs brother and other relative are both miraculously hired, and no they are not from the village. This is actually old school privilege.

When you keep hearing the same wife, cousin, village jokes all the time from people likely from a village in suburbia with people who all look like them #attitudeisaltitude

Left behind /D-mb are in-charge now!

As Apple Nvidia Google Uber Amazon hired away intel employees, only people left at Intel were H1B and people who did not prepare… and also those who can’t be hired… some of those became managers/directors by showing extreme eagerness to please… or making absurd claims…

Expecting outcomes from the left behinds is nonsensical at best. No two ways about it!

A script can replace such teams of 50+… (Reason for this is to save structure (directors, managers)…).

AMD market cap is now 1/2 (100 B) of Intel with just 15% of workforce (compared to Intel). Apple does not have such hierarchy…

Flatten orgs and actively pursue buyouts… smart hired will not report yo d-mb managers.. and there are too many at Intel.

When people are so desperate for hope that they compare the current CEO to a legend before he has accomplished a single thing.

Just FYI, That is exactly how Intel was when I worked for the in 1987/88. In one year I had 5 project cancelled. Marketing would define an inferior product that was slated to come out 2 years after competing products at a higher price but we would “win” because ours would say “Intel Inside”. I met people that had worked at Intel for 15 years and never taped out a single product. We had a guy that built a multi-million dollar lab that you couldn’t use because he had a DVD duper and that was what the lab was used for.

When a company pays $100K+ to a manager with no direct reports?

But don't you feel the diverse spirit when the VPs wife bumped to director without a single achievement?
