"Arguments for staying here", you ask?
Well, no, you probably won't find much on that on a website called "thelayoff.com" typically, right?
But my 2 cents is that Ascension breathed the local, living, compassionate care from each of the hospital ministries that was acquired through the years. I'm in I.T., and their stupid outsourcing contract with CSC (and their several other sub-contractors), made it clear to me that it didn't matter a hill of beans how much their employees cared about the organization they worked for...and that it was a numbers game. I am SO glad that the Ascension/CSC contract favored CSC (breach of contract). Even though I HATED CSC's policies, I hated Ascension for even considering that option. And buying back all of the hardware? Phew, would LOVE to know the price tag on that little gem.
This is a cyclical game, usually, but I want out. I don't care if or when it comes back in-house. Feels like an id--ts-running-the-asylum group now. No thanks.
