Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Any way to avoid the offer by changing groups?

Just got my 2 years in full time and I will be turning 50 by end of this year. I got the offer yesterday and my stomach sank. Would trying to go to another department be recommended that won't be affected by the voluntary offer? At a bare minimum via the worst case scenario, I would at least like to get the 401k company contributions (which I won't be entitled to until my 3rd year with the company).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and thoughts

The short answer is No, the dye is already cast.

I think you are a little late. I know at least two GSRs who moved late 2020/early 2021 as they could see their areas were vulnerable. Good luck!

Ford doesn’t negotiate unless you’re in the LL4 or above ranks.

Welcome to the Hunger Games! You can run but can't hide. Everyone has a target on their back especially if you're over 50. Plan accordingly!

I would like to get my 3 years in to at least get the 401K match would be my end goal if the worst case scenario happens for me (thus my original post). Does anybody know if the 401K match is negotiable (if an involuntary separation were to happen) or SOL?

You move groups and then that team gets targeted next, what will you do? Every team gets targeted eventually. You can’t run from it.
