Thread regarding Refinitiv layoffs

Does this company have a non-compete clause?

Hi, I recently received an offer to work at a competitor. Does this company have a non-compete clause anywhere? I will do my own due diligence, but it would also be very helpful if someone could also quickly confirm for me on here.

I really hope I can accept the offer and get out of Lseg!

:)

LSEG wouldn’t know who you are, you’re just an FTE leaving, so they won’t go after you…

I do know someone who had one in their contract (Reuters) and left for a competitor after getting redundancy. It was not pursued and was also considered unenforceable.

Just accept it. They really dont care 😀
If they would how can they loose whole teams have the service blowing night and day and carry on like if nothing major is happening 😉

They do not enforce it, even if there was one. Which I don’t believe there to be.

Many people have left to go to competition

Companies do not have blanket non-compete clauses. You may individually have one based on the contract you signed, which may depend on which company you originally joined, and also whether you subsequently accepted a different contract during an internal move.

That clause, if you find it in your contract, may not be enforceable depending on your jurisdiction. I had a solicitor read mine (a relative who did so free and informally) and they said I could either strike through some clauses or assume they weren’t there, because they were not legal in my country.

Finally, if you’re high enough in the organisation that anyone would care about you joining bloomberg, you should already know.

In other words, this board can’t answer your question, but it’s likely that no-one would notice where you went - nothing personal, that’s just how it goes.
