Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Would you leave CTL if you were offered 25% more in total comp?

I have a fairly stable job, like my boss, 3 to 4 years here at CTL... I am being offered 25% more to jump the ship and I am not sure what to do. I am in my late 30s and I am single... Thoughts?

maybe I misunderstood the OP statement. It's not clear if he was offered another job that pays 25% more or CTL is offering 25% more in the severance pkg to voluntarily leave. I was thinking it was a similar offering that we had last year of 130% enhanced severance pkg. If it's another job offer, then I'd agree, take it.

Regardless on wether or not your happy with ctl. I would suggest taking it. That 25% increase in pay is huge and will pay dividends on future pay raises because your future pay raises will be based on that pay.
Disclaimer, I was a tech that took the last buyout and am taking time to do some schooling to better myself. And I believe that the company doesn’t want techs and will get rid of you or say if you want to stay with the company you need to take the prem tech job.

That’s a complete bs post. Must be management. Yeah, they treat their employees great! I wonder why so many people are leaving? I have nothing to gain or lose by my comments. I can only offer advice on the current situation of the poster. If this company offered me double what I was making before I would still refuse to go back. If that doesn’t tell you something then I don’t know what will. Good luck!

Where most people on this site are negative toward the company, I have a different outlook. If you had more time with the company, 25% more could be a big deal, but only having 3-4 yrs, you're not going to get much more. If you're happy where you're at, ride it out, worse case they force you out, and if that happens you would not have lost much. You could find another job & it may be worse, you just never know. There may be turmoil here at CTL, but don't listen to the naysayers, you don't have to bail.

The boss you like could be gone tomorrow. There is no loyalty within CenturyLink or Lumen. Take the job - enjoy the increase in pay. Distance from this company will be the best thing you can do for yourself.

“Fairly stable job” = no. They are offering you a buyout-therefore your job is not stable. This company is not stable. GTFO while you still can on your own terms before they make the decision for you.

More money and you're asking if you should leave? Maybe some hesitancy if the job offer was 50% less. Maybe.

If you can hold down a job at CTL I think you could be happy anywhere. It doesn't hurt to advertise or update your skills.
