Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

White men need not apply for a job at MetLife

I’m all for inclusive and diversity. Metlife has made many efforts to do so but at the same time going so far that it’s making some employees feel their is no path for advancement especially if you happen to be white. So many positions are being filled with women and non Caucasian employees that the male workers are being let go. I would love to see the statistics. You can be diverse without making anyone feel a certain way, no matter the ethnicity or color of their skin. We are all Americans.

I've been at Metlife for over 34 years and that is a lie about White men have no room for advancement. White men run the company and there are very few people of color in management in most of the departments I partner with. Also white women are the majority at Met and in management. The racial discrimination that takes place at Metlife, I now see why. Because of people who think like you. God bless you.

“We are all Americans.” Seriously? Senior leadership down to consultant level are being filled by people brought over from other counties. Marketing, Strategy, Tech not American.

"It seemed white females were treated even worse than white males."

No. I don't think so. Any chance they get, the promote a female over an equally or even more qualified male.

Why do you think otherwise?

Believe it or not, there are still pockets in the Company where the good ole boys club still prevails and they have managed to avoid the mandated diversity quota. There was a recent job opening filled by an internal WHITE MALE.

In response to your Civil Rights comment, I couldn’t agree more! I know quite a few employees that are feeling very uncomfortable with the way upper management, including the CEO are handling the changes. I’ve been working at MetLife for quite sometime, maybe it’s time to move on.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 applies to white men, too. In the quest for diversity, companies should take care that they do not violate the law.
