Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

Those leaving now are smart

I know some people who are not happy but are staying because they're hoping they might score a severance package. That plan is flawed in several ways, in my opinion. First, severance is not a guarantee. There is no law that says MetLife has to give you severance. And second, layoffs are never on such a large scale here that you can comfortably believe you'll be affected in the next round. Looking for a new job when the market is great in our field is a much better approach, again, in my opinion. Now is the time to leave.

In all modesty, yes we are!
I left months ago - as I saw this company being a bad choice to continue my young career. New company perfect? No, but it's not Metlife either!
There is joy and happiness out there - find your path - if staying works, stay, if staying and being miserable works, stay -- if you just want to start fresh - leave - also, it was not too difficult to find a NewCompany that allows a better WFH policy -- Be free!

Agreed. I've had several companies reach out to me for jobs and I'm not even actively looking (yet). The job market is hot hot hot!

True. I've started submitting applications a few weeks ago and I already have two interviews set up. It's good out there.
