Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Rumours Are Swirling

Heard today that offers are coming very, very soon. This is from a petty reliable source who has been correct in the past. Not sure if it’s company-wide or certain groups..... stay tuned.

@ufd+1bOuAZGV I wander what are you worked in? Just remember those engineers you want to leave take direction form the wonderful management that is driving the company into "BROKE". Ford is a one trick pony 90+% of the profits come form F-Series...That Train will not last forever. So as I retire.. I think you are sick to want to se people get laid off for following orders from those above.. TVM is not a gsr. or LL6 idea That comes form the top.. you will find most of you issues comes from that organization.

Meanwhile a second email was sent out to another distribution asking how to improve messaging to bring in more people.

@tbn+1bOuAZGV in a logic defying move our LL5 converted contractors to full time employees who were 64 -> 69 years old in the last 2 years. So they are all eligible for the package based on age and >1 year of service.
We were all laughing when they were converted to employees as they clearly were not a good long term investment for Ford. And yes, all but one plan to take the package. The one not taking the package is a non-contributor.
Whatcha gonna do? You can only laugh at the silliness.

Damn! 1 year olds too? Say what, Ford does not even think before ruining careers. Bloody mo--ns! Layoff is bad at any year, but 1 year olds?? How much could a 1 yo have goofed? So you hire someone and after a year say to him/her "oops, we dont want that position anymore". Defies logic, but then again, its Ford.
It is things like these that will bring Ford down to the ground.

Finally someone in Ford leadership has the smarts to cut the workforce to improve the terrible quality Ford has these past few years. I only hope they realized they need to cut engineering/product development the most to get the customer sat where it needs to be.

They are offering packages to anyone with more than 1 year of service, regardless of age--In certain areas. The MOST they are giving is 6 months salary for people with 20+ years of service. Learned all this in a department meeting this morning. Email with offer comes out on July 19th. I doubt they will get many takers on this offer

In VESC area, they are being very specify. I'm part of Enterprise Connectivity which rolls up to VESC, of the like 10 groups under EC they are only making offers to two of the groups. Seems very targeted - must be truly about a salary cull, as I know the two groups they picked are top heavy with management (not just L67's, a lot of L5's and more L4's than they really need, too) with very few GSR's.

Maybe, just maybe, they are starting to right some wrongs under that last SRD actions of 2018/2019, where they allowed some directors to create safe havens for lots of management or promote people with not enough experience to be good leaders
