Is it true you have two weeks after being laid off to file for disability? If true what can you go out for and who do you contact? RRB? Any info appreciated.

And also, you can apply for Occupational even if you're laid off if you meet the BA6 monthly criteria or the age of 60 with 10 years in

This guy is correct. I'm in the process now. I'm at 7 months now for Occupational and have an appointment in Winston Salem in 2 weeks.
Go to the union hall tuesday @11a.m. There will be an RRB rep there that could shed light on your specific circumstances.
First off you have to have a disability , knees , shoulders , arthritis , then you have to have 20 years of service or 10 years and be 60 years old or more , then you call the rrb and apply for short term disability and while on that get the paperwork for occupational disability , keep in mind it will take at least 9 months my process took 13 , you will have multiple drs. appts and forms to fill out , I don't know if you can file while on lay off but you can after being fired while waiting for your arbitration hearing , plus if you have insurance you can collect that too.
Well two people I know that work for the UP, went out on disability for stress issues. They went through the RRB and the union
I’m 105 years old. Iv been with the railroad 86 years. You have to have 89 years seniority to still have a job at my shop. They say I’m too old to draw and I should be dead by now. Not sure I have the energy to start over at a new job.
How many years do you have in? What kind of disability are you looking for How? How old are you? These things will matter.
