Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Is it hot in your location?

I can not even stand it anymore. If you are on the 2nd or 3rd level it is a sauna. How do you do fittings rooms when sweat is pouring off your head and body and onto the clothes your trying to pick up that are in piles and piles on the floor and benches. Those clothes are wet too from people's sweat too from trying it on....
And all of this is just ok? I have thrown up twice at work from being overheated. I can not even do my job because its making me sick because if I move to much I am drenched in sweat. It is unappealing for customers and my own personal hygiene.
The best part? Nobody seems to care....

Yes, I work in a Macy’s in NY and it’s unbearably hot especially if you come in early in the morning to help with recovery, rods or fulfillment. They always have an excuse for everything. They are trying to save money and not turn up the AC. Unbelievable.

Is there someone with a red suit, horns, and a pitchfork running around the store?

It got a little cooler this week in Sacramento but the store is still sweltering, company doesn't put any money into air conditioning and everyone was sweating up a storm and its supposed to get back into the triple digits this weekend for the big sale. We just had two people on the support team quit and all of the cosmo ladies are looking for jobs. No one seems to care.

Have your leaders checked the temp in the building and called it in? Whenever it gets too warm in our building we literally take the temp around the store and call in a request to adjust the temp. It almost always gets resolved.

Macy's is definitely turning into Sears. At the Sears store I worked at in Southern CA the temperature was unbearable. This went on for years. They would not turn on the air conditioning unless we were having a visit. Then they would turn it off as soon as the visit was over. We catered to an older crowd and they would step inside the store and then immediately leave because it was too hot. I once had a guy go into heat stroke in the store and we ended up having to call 911. We almost lost our jobs for calling 911.

Very very hot . ESP before the store opens. I’ve worked in three locations in New England over the past couple years. They’re all the same. Very uncomfortable. ESP if you are working support before the store opens.

The horrible store temperatures started in 2017. Every year it gets worse. I had to wear five layers of clothing in the winter to keep warm. The summer store temperatures are sweltering and disgusting. We are located in the Boston area. No one cares. Ever notice during store visits how comfortable the temperature is . Then as soon as they are gone it is back to suffocation. The public would be outraged if pets were subjected to macys temperatures.

Call OSHA. Might not help you with the heat right away, but if they start nosing around, they will find something wrong and stir up trouble for the company and multiple things will have to get fixed.

And I thought it was only our store who didn't turn on air conditioning! Or heat is the cold weather either! I've worked in a winter coat all day too! Shame on you Macy's!

It’s extremely hot. Especially for the support team and fulfillment team. Doing floor moves and packing with no air until maybe when the store opens but even then it doesn’t really get cool. Customers are constantly complaining about it being hot and feeling like they’re going to pass out as well.
