Thread regarding Ford layoffs

And so it begins…..

Emails from Chuck Gray regarding Voluntary Salaried Separation Program in VESC area this afternoon.

Apparently must be some interest cause he then sent out a clarification saying only Business Ops and Industrial. platform digitization and transformation are only areas offer was extended to at this time. Too bad, might have too them up on the offer.

Don’t know if any other area’s impacted, but if they are looking for voluntaries first could mean involuntaries come later this year or early next. Hang on to your hats, could be a bumpy ride!

There will be involuntary separations no matter how many voluntary takers there are.
There always has been in the past. They always phrase the voluntary like that.
They will target the employees who are close to pension gates, and the employees who have compensation above average. There is always some spinning of yarns to attempt to cover up their intent.

Years back they sweeten the p-t with 18 months pay and bridged people 2 years.
Last voluntary offer was max 9 months pay.
This voluntary offer was max 6 months pay.
Anyone seeing a pattern?

Good Luck to all with your decision.

The number of people taking voluntary separation doesn’t seem to impact involuntary reductions. In my area so many took voluntary packages when they were last offered that there were brain drain concerns. We were told not to worry about SRD because too many left voluntarily. Surprise, a number were walked out in SRD. Of course they were all folks of a certain age who were about to get a pension bump which implies there were more than enough people just not the right people.

It is about time. Wow, Ford management/Billy/Jimmy can't even downsize/eliminate employees quickly yet alone run an efficient Fortune 500 company. Ford lets go - Speed it up - Bring it on across the entire company!!!! The sooner the better.

  1. s. - Ford, you definitely cannot build quality products, so not sure if you are smart enough to plan this out on your own. But please make sure not to downsize in Mexico or China though. You want to keep high caliber, low cost employees. Plus you can probably put some type of diversity PR spin on it, too.

Prepare your resumes just in case.

Here's what's going on happen.
They have a set amount of people they want to voluntary resign if they don't get the number of people they want to remove from the company by 4th quarter there's going to be a lot of involuntary layoffs. Next year it's going to be a rough year for a lot of people.

Wish everyone the best

On July 28, Q2 earnings will be so bad, even after selling real estate assets and ballooning Ford Credit residual values, they need to be able to tell the analysts they’ve taken decisive actions to manage costs. The only cost that makes a difference is salaries.

IT got a similar email from Sakis. If you go to Life@Ford and search for "separation", you will see the article. This time, 20+ years only gets you 6 months salary. It looks to me like they are expecting a large take rate if they reduce the the number of months from 9 to 6.

I have heard some activities have not received a email. But rest assured there will be more reductions.
