Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

How is this considered normal?

It dawned on me that having the constant fear of losing my job is not normal. When I see employees who excel in their job performance get RIF’d I ask myself what chance do I have of surviving any future rounds? It’s not something I want to contemplate while I’m working. The sad thing is, fearing layoffs has actually become the norm for many of us.

The new metrics and numbers are unattainable. The workload is just insane . Our Auto claims inspects workload is out of control. Working from dawn to dusk at home nonstop with maybe a 5 minute break here every 5 hours daily to make a sandwich and use the bathroom between writing nonstop estimates and taking call after call from mad shops and customers . We’re Burned out doing this since March 2020 stuck at home with no chance of going back out to the shops.

This is all part of transformative growth. After the lay offs of November 2020, the next step is to squeeze as many associates, especially the gray ones, out. It’s called the boa constrictor method. Allstate has used this method for years when they are trying to get rid of select adjusters. Eventually it will end, by you leaving or getting fired. They want you to quit but they will fire you if you don’t work 12 hours a day 7 days a week to keep up. India is ramping up. They are eager to take your job. Allstate can’t wait to see the boomers leave Glenn says the savings will be tremendous as they start over with India. They are ahead of most insurance companies with their Indian operations. Too bad for American Allstate’rs. Should have unionized when they went public. Ever since then it’s been about the stock and only the stock This is normal for Allstate.

Get out. That is the only thing you can control. Don’t wait around worrying about it and fearing it. Take action. Control your own path.

Time for the remaining workforce to turn the tables, take control of the insanity and turn it back at leadership. Refuse to accept the overwhelming backlog of claims that poor decision making has wrought. Make leadership squirm a little, stop the long hours and weekends, stop working unpaid overtime. We are in a no win situation with this company no matter what the future holds. They have shown us their true colors, time to take a stand and make this job as enjoyable as possible with what remains of it. Corporate culture in America is in for a rude awakening soon, its long overdue to stop the abuse and greed that has taken control.

That’s mistake #1- assuming you have any control over layoffs. Or that your virtue or ‘hard work’ will save you.

Preserving your sanity until you get out should consist of you satisfying your own integrity, doing what you know is right so you can live with yourself. Bc the powers that be are simply creating a pressurized environment of fear so they can easily control the masses.

You’re a number on a spreadsheet. Knowing that they don’t actually value you for your true worth as a human should free you from caring what they think since it ultimately has no real value. And knowing that they are literally actively abusing you should motivate you to want better, not learn how to tolerate such a toxic, unacceptable environment.

Good luck and get out!
