Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Layoffs are not the end of the world…

I see lots of worries and had to perform some layoffs before I was hit as well.

It hurts me to see that managers have to perform weekly cultural meeting while seeing that none of it actually applies.

For those who are consistently worried, my advice (from experience) is to “update your resume”, “beef up your certs and education” and understand that the healthcare industry is booming and always looks for talents.

It took me 2 weeks to find another job within the same industry and I honestly feel relieved (not having to worry about more layoffs).

Take charge now and you’ll be just fine :-)

People are fearful these days. Be cautious not to instigate an already fearful bunch. Some of us know about the mental health status of colleagues at Anthem. If they are suffering from stress, it’s fear, if not fear it’s mental health issues or medical issues or something else personal. Some people could be on the verge based on stress or fear so just be mindful since if they are ignorant let them be ignorant. Be kind and disagree respectfully.

I vote people do as they wish to do and if layoffs or firings happen as result of choices made with whatever requirements come, then as the original poster said “layoffs are not the end of the world.”

If Anthem establishes a policy requiring associates to get vaccinated before returning to the office, won't those who refuse be fired, not laid off, for violating company policy? If so, I don't know that they would be offered a severance or supplemental unemployment package, and I suspect most states would not give unemployment benefits.

This person's issue isn't the vaccines. She can't even differentiate between the mRNA and inactivated vaccines in her conspiracy theories. Apparently they both work completely different yet somehow both ki-l people. Unexplained. Her problem is any excuse to launch a grievance.

Yeah, it's a conspiracy with all the doctors and scientists and family members of the deceased all in on it - easily 100,000+ people keeping top secret except for that "lawyer" that primarily operates a merch store who is blowing the whistle. Thank goodness he blew it wide open.

How embarrassing to be such a gullible ignoramus that you'll casually spread disinformation (that ki--s people) for the same people that are exploiting you. What a waste of life

Want an easy ride to a vax card? Get the single J&J COVID vaccine if Anthem requires vaccination to return to an in office assignment in lieu of being laid off. I react to ALL vaccinations and I get the majority of the recommended shots - flu, shingles, influenza, etc. Took the J&J shot, and nothing! No reaction whatsoever. I couldn't even tell I had a vaccine. I know a couple of people that were sick 3 to 4 days after the second Moderna shot including one of my siblings. Several were so sick they had to stay home from work. The easy route is J&J.

Looks like they were right about being persecuted - they can't even post their vaccine disinformation without someone removing it!

You shouldn’t be having “lengthy conversations “ about your conservative voting views with your coworkers ever. Regardless of political views left or right it is highly inappropriate to discuss at work so maybe don’t do that 🙄

But some of us view layoffs as relief from incredible stress so some do wish to leave that way to ensure unemployment. It just depends on your situation because if you don’t plan on vaccinating it’s just a matter of time before we are forced out the door and then Anthem has to pay disability or unemployment or whatever it’s called until we find another work from home job in same or better salary and that could take a while. And for us that are In this boat we need a break from extreme stress here so being unemployed doesn’t sound disastrous as it does to a person in normal situation. Since we are going down anyway as a society and particularly for Christians who know persecution is here already frankly I’d be ok with the government paying to support me temporarily until better higher paid and lower stress work is found. And due to lengthy conversation with my colleagues that are conservative voters (the few of us here) well I just know as they have stated they feel the same
