Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

This is embarrassing

After the many controversies in the past several years and especially in the past several weeks, is anybody else now ashamed to admit they work at XOM? I don't even oppose what was done. I just can't believe that if you were going to resort to something morally or ethically wrong, you were not smart enough to take all necessary precautions for it to not come out. Or when it came out, to be prepared and know how to direct the narrative in a way that will - if not benefit - at least not harm you further. (Looking at you, DW.)

Really? A hat or a shirt thrown out and you are embarrassed. The only thing they or we have to be embarrassed about really is that a bunch of lazy teachers that could get a degree in any thing else were able to tell a company like ExxonMobil what to do. Hate on teachers and special interest groups for that and spent your energy for expressing your discontent with ExxonMobil towards keeping American jobs in America. And while we are at it, how about stopping politics, religion, your s-x life or self mutilation at home where it belongs!! There are federal laws on the books that PROHIBIT THIS SH*% in the workplace so XOM needs to stop being cowardly and breaking the law by not enforcing and abiding by existing laws. And shame on employees that bring it to work! Keep it at home and to yourself or be fired and sued by the fellow employee you harrass, offend and demean! Educate yourself on the real, actual and documented law before it has consequences by the legal systems.

It is more than a few years since I proudly stated my employer's compounded name.
Just 5 years ago - at Canadian Air customs - I replied 'Do I really have to say who I work for?'. Just going to Sarnia.
In a pub, should someone encroach with a 'what do you do?', you can say 'Work for a big company. Small fish.'
But - on a first date? Could go wrong.

So, yeah. Don't need no EM shirts no more.

from the recent global GSC forum, it was very apparent that it was very poorly received, and it served to anger the people on the ground more than anything else. and when we question our LT about their opinion about their view of the forum, none of them dared to call a spade a spade. its either they give you some misdirected msg to deflect the truth or just crickets. that speaks volume, no one is going to speak up for us, the LT is powerless to make any meaningful change to people on the ground. We are on our own. so i dont think its about embarrassment working for EM but rather built up anger and resentment we feel for the LT and management, just because they can't just come clean and tell us the truth or at least, stand up for us (grow some).

I’ve tossed all my ExxonMobil shirts and hats except for work outfits that have the company logos on them and one shirt that a dear friend gave me. I wouldn’t say I’m embarrassed working for ExxonMobil, more pi---d off at the executives more than anything.
