Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Who is Pat and why he will fail ? He isn't the leader that can lead Intel to the Promised Land

My weekend thoughts on the messiah.

A golden boy who has bleed Intel blue for really his WHOLE Life.

Started at Intel when he was 18, and can't think in the way Intel really needs. Sure he talks a good talk that everyone including world democracy governments wish what he talks will become true. Wish doesn't change engineering, physics, nor business.

Much is made about his supposedly high Education including degrees at Stanford and Santa Clara, but seriously he was just a part time student just getting his paper to have the pedigree, and it does sound pretty impressive doesn't it STANFORD, LOL.

Do people know much about the Stanford MS program that was running during those days where almost anyone could get in as long as they were getting bankrolled by companies. They took classes remote, paid almost double the tuition and trust me the classes didn't fail anyone. Sure you could learn something, Pat got his education at Intel.

Sure he was talented a golden boy and likely if he had gone to school and got degree the real way he'd have some other things under his belt, but he was really tutored by the best of the Intel managers, but his experience is very different than Noyce, Grove, Barrett in think and conditioning. A visionary leader usually for a new company that needs to be revamped doesn't usually find that visionary leader from within, especially one brain washed and seeing Intel from when it was the king and running a monopolistic enterprise. Usually you need someone that sees the world a different and unique outside prospective and PAT doesn't have ANY of that. Much has been made of his decade away, but he was top dog there, very different. What seals my view is all his preaching these days and certainty of going to the old intel while NOT addressing the real things that are stacked against Intel from every side.

Between the background and all he says my friends is why all he can offer is go back to the old to bring back the glory.

The world has changed, the business has changed, the competitors leaders have much more world and real world formative youth that has created a brain that can separate Intel koolaid dreams from real world reality.

IDM 2.0 and Foundry and the resurrection is fantasy.

List any company that resurrected itself by returning to its roots in the Technology world, any? There aren't, don't mention Apple as they didn't become a king again in computers.

Pat is not cleaning. He is on a hiring spree rather. Check the employee count in Q1 & Q2 earnings releases! He is readying Intel for growth. It is a different matter if that growth strategy succeeds or not.

Definition of insanity: when you fail again and again and again (IBM, AMD, Charter). repackage it and add Intel and sprinkle a little tax money and return to Grovian kick a$$ and viola it works

Well said, A counterpoint, Pat is cleaning house, slowly getting rid of do nothing senior execs/management, one hopes this will trickle down. Also there are some good things about the old Intel Era - accountability and transparency. Maybe Intel will stop living the lie and work with the truth to start clawing back.

I don't see how IDM 2.0 can be successful unless it is completely divorced from Intel manufacturing, which is not even remotely competitive to any other Semi-fab. But if they can get governments to bankroll the whole affair, kudos to Pat for doing that logistics to bring back western manufacturing, Although TI, Avago, or Micron could do much more with the same dollar, good on Intel if they can get those wins.

Final Fantasy?
it is his job to be optimistic, and he must be confident
else, he is not fit for that hot seat
who cares what fantasy kind of dream he has, he has to start to belief
you ppl can think he is on koolaid but he has a job to do

He was successful at one point in time, nothing more. There will not be a repeat.
