We all know how horrible this company is and how we are being told to “get out”, “leave”, “quit”. That’s all fine and dandy if you’re at an age where it’s easy to find a replacement BUT not quite as easy if you’re in your late 40s to mid 50s. There are many who have vested so many years, that to leave would be su----e. We may be a few years away from retirement. Maybe if we weren’t we’d leave as well but it is what it is. Ask yourself, if you had vested almost 30+ years would you leave?

Life is too short to stay somewhere that treats you so badly. At least try to get out. You may not be successful, but you may be pleasantly surprised. I know plenty have peopl mid 50s or older who have gotten out. Just have to have the courage to try.
Over 50/55 people who have wasted years at Allsnkae - check out government jobs. There are some that you qualify for (reduced) pension after working for only 5-10 years, age 65. That combined with the criminally frozen Allstate pension and your 401k and you'll be fine. Plus by leaving, your life expectancy will increase by years by getting out of the stresspool.
Post on the pension, 401k is right. You should be able to retire if you’ve actually been with Allstate 30 years. Allstate was generous with its employees many years ago.
With 30 plus years of 401k and a vested pension, you should be well over a million, possibly 2 mil with other personal savings, IRAs, severance, etc. If not, you’re right about being trapped.
It’s too late for a lot of us. We are at their mercy . Companies are looking for young workers. Hoping in 2 years we’ll go back to the way claims was run and providing great customer service .
As someone who is my late 50’s- no one will hire me. I have no option but to state.
yes. leave anyway. retire if you're close enough. you think allsnake isn't about to do away with pensions? get out.
people will hire late 40s early 50s workers. that's still 10-15 years out of retirement.
Plenty have. Not by choice - since the layoffs and VTOs are targeting older, higher paid workers. And I know plenty who have been forced out who have jobs already - many at much better pay.
