Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Is this their new strategy?

Treating us like cr-p until we walk away on our own?

Took a package 6 weeks ago. 8 of us left and today they notified 4 more they will be laid off on July 30th. Feel bad for those guys. I thought us leaving would cushion people from layoffs for a while but they don't care about workers. Greedy A$$ holes.

What management fails to recognize is that when you lay off so many employees your chances of executing goes down even further. The way these people reason is astonishing! The revenues will continue to drop, further employees will be gone until they literally have nobody left! Then and only then will the board fire some executives! They are truly clueless!

90% of the copper lines are now dead. Our customers have gone elsewhere. We have not invested in fiber to any great extent. We are basically dabbling in it at most. Nearly nobody has a home phone anymore and LemonLink doesn’t have cell service to provide. The only thing worth anything is transport fiber and only to carry other companies services. Lumen has big problems and can only be a target for a buyout for the transport because that is all that they keep up. Everything else was left to rot in the expectation or 5G residential HSI which LunenLink doesn’t have so has to partner with T-MOBILE

Sue them over hostile and unfair work environment. If contract is gone, no arbitration. Document now, class action.

"Is this their new strategy?"

This is nothing new, from the time Nacchio took over and called the Union workforce clowns this has been going on, the difference is that it is more blatant now, when he was doing it it wasn't PC, since the Trump presidency being able to say things in public and do things and basically say if you don't like it take me to court is the new method, we know that the Unions can't possibly keep up. Grievances used to be a deterrent for behavior against the contract and abuse of management. Now they are just laughed at as the Company says thanks for the warning, prepare the Needs of the Business argument and loss of Land lines argument.

Never do you hear of the transfer of Land line to VOIP retention aspect or now transfer to Fiber aspect. Which really is we didn't lose them, we upgraded them and are billing more money.

Exactly! I had more technical knowledge than my boss and I got pushed out! Thank god I did as that place is dead! They keep the weak and get rid of the competition! Talk about securing your job!

Additionally-one thing I've learned in my time is bad management has two distinct behaviors that are a common denominator, first they get rid of good people, second, they make life a living he-l for the rest. I've seen this in spades here and at other companies and organizations I've been involved with thru the years. So that being said if you are talented and skilled, kiss this place goodbye you won't last.

Yes, this is exactly their strategy. Best of luck my friend. It’s just going to get worse.

Yes that's their strategy, get people to quit so they don't have to pay unemployment. I say let them make the move as it won't matter as far as your work record any you at least get a chance at unemployment etc.

Because it certainly feels like I'm being forced to quit.
