Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

How many have found new jobs?

Of the people who were laid off in the latest round, how many have been able to find new jobs by now? I know there's no way to know exactly, but people here must know some who were let go and whether they are still searching. I'd just like to know if the job market is really as good right now as some people are saying.

I am in CA and my PTO was paid out when I was laid off.

In Ca if they don’t pay out your PTO you will need to fill out a wage claim form with the labor board to recuperate your PTO. FYI

People, look up your Laws about paying out PTO. In CA, they have to pay out any accrued PTO. Don’t listen to your manager, they don’t know the law! You can sue if you don’t get your accrued pto. This company is full of people that know nothing!!!🤦🏻‍♀️

I found a better job ..gave my 2 weeks.. had 32 hours of PTO and they did NOT pay out my PTO. HR said even though it’s CA I forfeit my PTO when I gave my 2 weeks per their policy Now. Jerks... so please use your time up !!!!!!!!

I was laid off last year and my PTO was paid out to me, but it may depend on the state. Or it could be that Centene changed how they’re doing things...which should not shock anyone. Keep looking, better jobs are out there that will make you forget the nightmare of a merger this has been.

Centene only pays out PTO where it is required by State law. CA requires it so if that is your State, then yes, they will pay out what you have accrued. There may be another State that has that law too, but not sure which. I can tell you if you are in MO, they do not pay out your accrued PTO.

Please use all your sick time and PTO before you give your 2 week notice. They are supposed to pay out in CA but HR does not. And it’s a fight to get your time payout after you leave.

Centene doesn’t payout PTO. They won’t payout any leave after you give notice or so I was told by my manager.

Make sure you have a great Linkedin page, connect with anyone you know at other companies, do an internet search on the other Medicaid MCOs & Marketplace plans in your State and apply to those. And, look for remote jobs (there are plenty). You have to put some work into finding work. I looked at it like a full time job when I was searching after the layoff. You have to do this daily. Good luck and know there are other jobs out there.

I have found a job paying double God is good!! The promotion I was begging CENTENE for I got it on the first try with a better company! Hang in there! Get off the boat before it sinks! It was hard keeping the faith but it feels good to be appreciated and with a solid company! Good Luck!

Congratulations to all who found the job. I am still in search. I cannot wait to leave this company who does not value their employees and leaders who does not recognize talent. Centene culture sucks. All the hardworking and long hours are no worth as Growth seems evident only for leaders.

I found the job and title that I should have had at WellCare. It’s so different working for a company that values their employees, unlike Centene. Good luck to you, keep searching and network as much as you can with colleagues (current and former) - that’s how I found my job.

I am older, and found an appropriate position that is fully remote, with a solid $$ offer, about three months after 3/12 (final paycheck date for those of us that were laid off). I applied to many openings, had some wacky interviews, but finally found a good landing spot. I know of at least three others that found good positions outside of Centene, in addition to a few who re-applied to Centene and are back there working in different departments. I am not going to sugar coat it; the past few months were overwhelming at times, but don't give up. There are people at companies out there that will value you what you bring to the table.
