Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Maybe a little more ownership and a little less complaining?

As I read through these post, a few thoughts come to mind. I am 100% sure that no one could care less about. I am also 100% sure I will get snarky comments, don't care about that either. Is my personal thought that VMware is the same company as when I started, no. I also think it's a fact of life that as companies grow, the culture changes. Do boss's play favorites no mater where you go, yes. This is an incredible time for folks in IT in general. I get pinged almost every day for a new job opp. It's your choice to stay, or work somewhere else. Employees are part of a company culture. If one does not like it, they need to look in the mirror, and figure out how they can affect change. If you find culture is not a good fit, then it is time to move on. At the end of the day, no one will care about you and your career more than you.

There certainly are a lot of anti-Indian racists working in Velo cloud, based on
the irrational upvotes and downvotes in this thread.

Wow. The current comment scores show that the hysterical anti-Indian mob was loud and proud yesterday.

As a matter of fact, many of these complaints were investigated “just as a show”
by an Indian. That is a conflict of interest right there.

That is an entirely racist statement made by someone claiming they were wronged by racists.

Exactly why is it nos possible for an Indian to investigate, and how do you know it was "just for show"?

Your paragraph is sensible, but there is room for explanation as many
people do genuinely like working for the company. Doing this work
very well is quite challenging and highly specialized.

A company does start with a foundational culture. In the case of this
company, cracks entered the foundation. Cracks allow vermin, mold and
rot to take root. This broke the culture.

One of the first cracks was the creation of different business units.
These business units are not required to cooperate toward grand
company goals. Lack of common goals fosters non-cooperation, which
results in animosity, hostility, complexity and incompatibilities.

A secondary crack was new management in these business units. These
folks haven't always have the best interests of the company in mind.
Observation reveals that some have agendas to further their career:

Out with 'old technology', in with 'new'.

Doesn't matter if the old works well and has years of stored history.
It also doesn't matter if these new solutions don't have feature
parity, cause friction between business units, cost more money, reduce
productivity or lose business history. The management wants it and
they have the power to sign the check.

Suck-ups and posers circle these self-absorbed managers like moons
around a planet. It's natural. They feed off each other. The
subordinate validates the superior. The superior grants power.

Unfortunately, power enables posers to co-k things up. Once this has
started, people who speak truth are shut out and the downward spiral
accelerates.

As power grows, posers irreparably damage the culture by leaving a
trail of half finished and half working systems for others to
maintain. They move on to some other grand new plan before the paint
is dry on their most recent monstrosity. Quality decreases. Culture
is damaged.

As long as these types are in power, the slope of the line will be
downward.
