Back to work, ISRs

Sorry team but they want us back in the office. Can we do it? https://austonia.com/big-tech-returns-to-office

I know this ISR who sits in her house in some remote location in New England somewhere. Been doing it most of her career. Her husband is re--rded, can't work, and at home too. Can't imagine living like that. She has a built up hidden anger inside - can't blame her for that I guess. She loves to travel if her manager let's her but I never let her talk to my big customers...she has no clue about sales and customer interaction. A sales BOT... blah, blah, blah. Talks all the time but never listens. No wonder her husband is an invalid

that is a good read on zerohedge. 62 and laid off back in Sept'20, $80K severance. A couple months after the WFR I decided to retire when evaluating going back to the office. Wasn't exactly how I planned it but it turned out perfect. It was hard to give up $250-300K/year - for what little work I was doing. I realize now how much I dreaded the office politics, forecasting, basically "playing the game" was harder than doing my job. I now wished that I retired earlier. Thank you Dell for the kick in the pants LOL

Agreed, I enjoy being with customers, I enjoy being with work colleagues and when I want to get my head down I work from home. But being at home 24/7 with kids and wife in a small unit is hard in the same way that being distracted in an office is hard. It's a balance

But if you want to be 100% at home apply for a role like that, they exist. Dell is one of the better ones at it.

You may be surprised to learn how many people love business travel for the same reason... to get out of the house or away from the spouse. I see it all of the time because I was once like that too.

"This is against the common wisdom.. It makes no sense.."

Pretty much begging to go back to office here, none of the team want to be stuck at home with the family anymore

Pretty sure the WFH party will be over for most. Don't see the problem with that.
