Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Can’t Allstate just get rid of the claims department?

With transformative growth and claims and processor jobs being outsourced to call centers in India (yes, writing estimates without licenses in India for $5 hour) can’t they just sh-t down claims operations here since it’s just a skeleton crew working claims in the USA? I see this happening in 2-3 years time . Another Covid wave in India in March set back Allstate’s plans this yearly moving more claims job overseas. It seems like good business sense to pay someone $5 an hour in India to work sweatshop hours of 12-13 hour days for twice the volume of an American worker plus no benefits like insurance, pension , 401k have to be offered . I don’t know how American policyholders of Allstate will feel dealing with Indian call centers though . I’m in dispatch in claims here at Allstate and the volume we’re dumping on the few adjusters left here is depressing. We see how behind they truly are and we see how many quit and are about to quit due to the stress and anxiety.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that an unqualified white person historically and systemically has an advantage over an overqualified, well-educated person of color. I would bet affirmative action is an insult to people of color in the first place...because it invalidates their merits. Also, maybe try gaining marketable skills instead of targeting minorities under the assumption that they will actually go through with this policy...it’s all for show. Unfortunately, you can’t just hire well-deserving talent without asking what your race is or profiling your skin color. Probably going to get a lot of downvotes for this one but ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Exactly, the link to the article...when you are targeting hiring based on skin color/minorities, you can't point the finger back at somebody for bringing up race when the company used that to determine who does and does not get hired! And yes you are correct, it is unqualified people regardless of skin color, it is more about socieoconomic groups!

I work at SF which is a total cluster f-ck for sure! Actually you guys are very lucky in some ways but the insurance industry, as a whole, is just a total sh-t show. I do think Allstate is worse because it is spiraling down quicker than SF. Once your competitors over-take you it is just a matter of time, and SF is not too far behind, we are just a lot bigger so it will take more time to get as bad as Allstate. Sorry to offend but SF is hiring the absolute worst of the worst from the lowest socioeconomic groups which happen to be mostly, but not all, black. Not blaming them in any way for trying to get a better job but most honestly do not have the necessary skills/capacity to do what is asked/job. Sad to setup people for failure and to eventually just fire them. It is basically abuse/discrimination. But with that said maybe at least the the folks in India might even appreciate the job, show up and try hard. Trying working in a department at SF where every department is 90-100% African American/black who are mad at the world, bought into BLM, have every phobia/illness known to man/ADA, and are part of today's "woke" culture. Our company is now driving and reinforcing this cr-p, apologizing for all the white privilege, high lighting all the ''trans/transition" employees and prior to COVID the worse company to work for in the United States! Highest first year quit rate record by the bureau of labor statics! You can' t make this up in the worst nightmare! Cheers, they will all be basically done in the next 10 years so plan accordingly!
