Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Bankruptcy rumors?

hear more and more people talking about bankruptcy, I just don't know where that story comes from and what its based on. So I'm starting to wonder how likely is it that it might happen?
Honestly, I don’t believe in such a scenario, but there’s always a bit of truth in every rumor.

the company filed for Chapter 11.

But who was ultimately to blame for the company failure? Here at Forbes, Leadership contributor Adam Hartung had a provocative piece on Sunday where he fingered management. In its most recent bankruptcy filing, writes Hartung, the company imposed “draconian cuts to wages and benefits.” This was unrealistic and damaging, he says, “tantamount to management saying to those who sell wheat they expect to buy flour at 2/3 the market price.” The company also kept trying to prop up its old business of obsolete products, failing to cook up more palatable foods with higher margins. Then it scapegoated the unions.
And then they came for me, this what Apollo does

"Lumen has no employees nor does it provide any services. Just like stated above it’s a holding company. Try to sue Lumen or even Centurylink and you will soon find out this being true. Only CenturyTel and Qwest have employees! Don’t believe me, try and see "

CTL is no where close to bankruptcy. They have a long-term problem in that revenues have steadily declined for the past 20 years. The high-margin POTS customers continue to leave. They make their financials in two ways: 1) refinancing high interest rate debt and 2) layoffs

Lumen tech is a holding company. If Centurylink goes bankrupt that doesn’t mean Lumen will. I believe they are moving Lumens liabilities into Centurylink and taking the assets in order to protect them. After they finish moving things around they will let centurylink go bankrupt. This is what I believe and it would play he-l on the pensions

With the company name change to Lumen, there must be a grand scheme to having 3 company names. Is it possible to bankrupt only CTL?

Billions of dollars in cash on hand.

According to the last reported balance sheet, Lumen Technologies had liabilities of US$6.63b due within 12 months, and liabilities of US$41.6b due beyond 12 months. On the other hand, it had cash of US$406.0m and US$2.04b worth of receivables due within a year.

Yeah! Solid financials! Wake up!

It just goes to show you that story doesn’t care about customers or his employees! That’s a recipe for failure! You honestly think that guy cares about stockholders? Why is the stock so undervalued? There’s you answer!

It's interesting to see that there are other areas where they quit pressurizing cable. Two years ago they shut off all our compressors, took off all the bottles, quit pumping manholes and laid off all the air men. We couldn't believe it.

It's not necessary, we were told. A waste of money. We were baffled. Funny how it was necessary for many many years, and all of a sudden, storey comes in and now it's not.

I don't need to tell you what it's like now with static, intermittent dialtone, and the sort. Sorry, we can no longer provide you service, they tell them. Here's a cellphone till you figure out what your gonna do. So sad.

Is there any truth to the rumor the earth is flat? Rumors are just rumors. Started by someone with an agenda and spread by feeble minded people that want to believe it. Check the companys financials. Billions in cash. Theyre not going bankrupt.

Strategic Default is an understatement. The air pressure crew was told that they were shutting off air dryers that pressurize cables in strategic areas.

What does your gut suggest to you? Studies show that intuition is more accurate than facts. My attorney told me that she heard that CenturyLink is in trouble. She has NO agenda, just making conversation at $400/hr. Probably why I didn't ask her source. Interesting that the rumors revolve around CenturyLink and not Lumen. Even this site has NO idea who Lumen is...that's how irrelevant we've become.

The company is sold by states at a discount, but no one wants the legacy copper facilities, they want the fiber footprint. But whatever happens, its going to be run by contractors after the contract is over in April 2023. So all you broadband and network technicians, get out while you can or plan your exit strategy. Its a shame its coming down to this.

I would not call it bankruptcy as much as I would call it a strategic default. Think about it. Kinda like faking a car wreck with the beater. This is a a plan not an unfortunate outcome by chance.
