Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

NTSB

As a former union official for mechanical I have had to call the FRA several times and repot issues with the company. I just want to know what the he-l has happened they never show up anymore and I haven’t heard them issue a fine to the company in years. When you report issues all they say is they will look into it and never do. So my question is does anyone feel like the NTSB would be a better government office to contact .I know that is were the railroads Customers have been complaining to

The NTSB is only there to investigate certain accidents and incidents for all the modes of transportation. Not just the railroads.

Even if the cause is blatantly obvious, It always takes 1 1/2 to 2 years for them to issue a final report so it makes it look as though it some sort of a busy and important agency. The ultimate blame is usually (and likely) purposefully placed on human error. Get on their site and read some of the reports they can get pretty interesting.

It needs to get to the national news so people understand there are unsafe trains running through their community. Lol. You will have an unsafe train running through main street, and you will like it. Got a problem with that? Call your senator who has had his campaign donated to by the railroad. He will get right on it. Big dog and pony show…..and if there is a big damaging chemical spill derailment, the railroad will just write out checks. For as little as possible of course.

It needs to get to the national news . The public needs to know how their taxes money is being wasted. How the railroad is having unsafe trains rolling through their towns.

The whole system is completely corrupt. Just like the rest of Washington DC. When there is an accident they will all cover for each other to protect their lifestyles. Nothing short of gutting the government and starting over will fix it.

The government is there to regulate the little people not the wealthy. The FRA is more likely to fine you for reporting a problem.

The Union's sold the agreement employees out years ago. You should know that. No protection from tyrranical companies anymore!

The FRA and railroads are in each other's pockets these days. No different than the Unions and the railroads. You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours is how it works now. It's a shame, but true.
