Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Is there anyone who's regretted leaving Chase?

When at one point it became unbearable for me here, I moved to the competitors, convinced that the atmosphere there was better. From this perspective now, I don’t think any bank provides much better working conditions than Chase. These are all slight nuances. That is my opinion.
If I could turn back time, I would definitely leave Chase at some point, but not because of the competitors. Instead I would try going to a much smaller bank.

Dream came true, RIFF, big severance, great new job. Had too many years to quit, RIFF took a long time, but worth the wait!

I officially left near end of June. This week I started my new job with a different bank. No regrets. New job is much better. No more stress. Now I can focus on getting healthy again too.

Why would I regret ? This job is the cause of my depression

Nope. No regrets. Took a job there knowing I might not be there long term. They trained me, started asking me to come in early and stay late. I quit when I was done needing them (paycheck and health insurance). I’m sure it passed off a lot of people, especially the person I replaced, who was demoted when I came on board. It was a toxic mess of unhappy people all jockeying to be the boss’s pet. Never seen so many unhappy people in one place. I was always happy because I knew I was leaving soon.

No. Regrets. None.

I’m at a CU now. No way I’m going back. I see many former colleagues still suffering. While I miss (mostly my benefits)- the high stress, sweatshop environment was not worth what happened to me the last year and a half I’d been there. I had a pretty long tenure too, but again - it had to be done.

I left in 2017. It ultimately ended up ok because I was able to change roles pretty quickly, but the job I went to initially was a disaster - the team had gone through a reorg between my offer acceptance and start date and my team was pretty much made redundant. I spent months doing odd jobs for various managers terrified I'd get laid off. I often wonder where I'd be if I'd stayed. I left for family reasons and had been doing well at Chase before leaving.

I did, left for a depositary bank and came back running to Chase within a year. My next move will be to either big tech or a hedge fund. No more Big Banks for me!

The grass always seems greener on the other side
