I dont get it - what DELL is doing research on?

I am seeing papers written by DELL staff like this one on various Tech Sites and promoted Linkedin posts:

WTF is that?
Why DELL is advertising AI and NLP when it is just a hardware assembly and repackaging company? Is MD planning to hire top notch AI scientists and invest in AI research?
Or all this is just another marketing ploy to sell their outdated hardware?

Dell have always been more of a marketing company than a technology company. Name one innovation from Dell, we have to buy companies to acquire new technologies

beg to disagree. At least in certain time DELL was a leader in HW server module integration and packaging. That's why the E of DELL was inclined backwards - because they were seeing unfathomable growth rates exactly in that business.

Dell has never been a leader in anything.

You do realize that Dell is a giant corporation and there are people working on all kinds of stuff you probably have no visibility of, right? I am not here to white knight for Dell but just because there is work that is done that you have no connection doesn't mean people aren't doing things.

So it is all fairly cheap marketing ploy..

According to MD and marketing AI and ML is all the rage and will help Dell reach its well stated primary goal of advancing human progress through technology.
