Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

23 years of service, no matter

2 years shy of retirement, 23 years of service to this company, worked many overtime hours (salary but still overtime) and they toss you off as if you are nothing. Thanks a lot. This used to be a great company to work for back in the day. Great place to work, but those days are long gone. I came from Blue Cross Blue Shield before Anthem or Wellpoint. Just another corporation that uses you up and spits you out as if you aren't human.

To the 23 year poster. Please execute your retirement benefits . Anthem wont tell you , but if your eligible which sounds like you are 55 years of age 10 years of service I believe, you still qualify. Make sure you get your max benefits. Check your anthem Cash balance account. Anthem benefits if you dont execute everything, please be in the know..I hope this finds you in a better way..

FYI. Be prepared, depending upon how your RIF went through, you will be receiving an opportunity to choose your retirement gift. I was just very glad I already had a new job when I received my “retirement “ gift. Have been working for 18 months and have another 3 years before I can really retire.

Go see a lawyer. Leadership is not above the law. You can probably claim some additional $ since you were so close to retirement. All a Lawyer can say is no.

Very sorry about your situation. It’s true how they now treat employees. New leadership feels they are above everyone else, and the lack of compassion shows in the layoffs this past year. Hang in there - something better is coming.
