A few people where I work have been denied annual 25 cent raises over the years due to poor performance most of them I know and they are solid booksellers. Essentially they were buried by someone Higher up than them and were allowed to keep their job but without a raise. Anyone experience something like this, how can someone be denied a raise based on hearsay that seems so rotten. What can be done if you don’t agree with a poor review and are denied a raise?

I know for a fact some people got raises while others did not, it's making the workplace unbearable and people aren't speaking to one another. And some got the $2, the whole thing is typical and stupid.
I don't know how anyone can stand this place, I'm glad I'm only part-time, I can't imagine being in this POS store full-time!
You can’t pick and choose who gets raises if you have a good year everyone gets them if it’s not so good no one does, clearly you missed the point of the post. Management picks who gets them while ensuring some people don’t.
Did your store increase profit? Did you sell more books than you did last year? If you are in SALES, and didn't sell more, you don't deserve a raise.

BN is rife with favoritism. Probably the worst place I’ve ever worked in terms of how chummy the management is with certain chosen employees.

No raises for anyone in 2020 but before that yes, so if you didn’t get one from 2019 you got screwed over. New raise structure is now 2 percent a year if your review is exceptional or a 2 dollar raise for a promotion which i suspect will be near impossible for most people to get.
Rebel or DO LITTLE WORK- if they're telling you that you're not worth a freakin quarter than give them the type of work they think you're doing- NOTHING!
This is why you pick a decent company with a stellar reputation or work for one a UNION!
